Tsalteshi Ski Trails

This trails system isn’t a single trail rather it is made up of multiple trail loops that you can put together to form a long or a short hike. The hike I did is on All Trails called Mountain Goat, Raven, Wolf, Bear and Wolverine Loop. This sign is by the middle school side as you start the trail system. I started on the lower end from Kalifornsky-Beach road. So by the time I saw this sign I had been hiking for over 3 miles.

The trails are very wide so that they can accommodate cross country skiing in the winter. There are also single track mountain bike trails that run through out the system.

Most of the time you are in high trees with out a lot of panoramic views. This is one of the times you could see off in the distance. The other time is when you are by Skyview Middle school looking the other direction.

It was a beautiful fall day here in Soldotna, AK. Temperature was right around 50F. It had rained earlier but the trail wasn’t muddy at all which I was surprised.

I carried my D850 with my 70-200mm 2.8 lens hoping to see some moose. They have been reported on this trail system. Of course no luck for me. I heard a couple squirrels chirping at me and some birds but not much wildlife.

Skyview middle school is the back drop.

I came back to the truck a tenth under 6 miles. I thought about walking around to get that last tenth but my feet were very tired by this point. 🙂 I hope to get back here soon and to bring the dogs when they get to Alaska.
