After we had the group shots out of the way it was time for the individual and couple portraits. The Ward’s are great, it’s nearly impossible to take a bad photo! Not that I tried mind you 🙂
It is also much easier to get great portraits when everyone is having a good time.
I don’t think I have ever been this flexible!!
The returning missionary son and Mother 🙂
I’m told there is a similar photograph from before he left 2 years ago.
I really love the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G lens for portrait work. It is super sharp and has great bokeh. You also have so many possibilities with the shots you can take with it. The only downside is you are a little limited on group size if you can’t back up far enough. If I have a large group I default to my 50mm f/1.8 lens which also is incredibly sharp and has nice bokeh as well.
Because it is a longer focal length you just have to be careful when shooting a group that you have enough depth of focus to keep everyone clear. An example of the narrow the depth of focus is below. This is at 160mm and f/5.0.
I have so many favorites from this shoot it would be hard to narrow it down. So instead I’ll just post the gallery and let you decide.
