Ella Senior Photos

530_340_1805 Yakima WA

This past summer I did senior photos for my daughter at the Yakima Area Arboretum. It was fun to take photos of my youngest and only daughter. I haven’t done a ton of senior photo shoots over the years, but I always enjoy the energy seniors bring.

The sun was a great color, unfortunately it could either be in her eyes or she could be back lit. So for a lot of the photos we found shade. I used my 70-200 f/2.8 lens to shoot her portraits. Its a great lens for portrait work due to its wide aperture. The longer focal length can be a little difficult when in close quarters and trying for a full body shot instead of just a head shot.

One of the things I struggle with is the lack of knowledge and confidence in posing people/models. It’s an area in which I need more education and practice. Since I usually do landscape and wildlife photography I haven’t been forced to learn as much as I could. I think I still get some great images, but the best, come with help from the subject.
