This past weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to do some portrait work for two very lovely young ladies, Liz and Anita. They also happen to be sisters!

We went first out to the Shasta Valley Wildlife Refuge which I knew would provide some awesome background scenery.

For most of the shots this day the sun was behind them. This created some great highlights in the hair, but created dark faces. Because of this I used my speedlight for fill light. If I would have had an assistant and a reflector I believe that would have worked better, but….

After the refuge we went into Montague to take some photographs on an old train engine. After taking some shots with my 50mm, I switched to my new 14-24mm 2.8G to get some shots of them with more of the train.

After the shots on the train engine they noticed across the street a great brick building with a blue staircase on the outside. Liz especially wanted some shots against the brick wall.

During the photo shoot the sisters had fun messing around and laughing. I have 20 shots of their “blooper” shots that I’ll share in the next post. Have to share these lovely more serious shots first. 🙂
