Rockies Marlins Game 8/5/2016

I had forgotten to edit and post these photographs last fall.  I came across them again when I was going through my 2016 photographs trying to decide on the best of that year.

On August 5th, 2016 Nathan, Christian, Daniel and I had the opportunity to go to a Colorado Rockies game.  My boss at the time, Dr. Ehrlich, paid for us to attend a game with him and his son down in Denver.  Coors Field is an amazing venue. We got tickets to sit just behind the Rockies dugout about 20 or so rows back.

In this picture, taken with my phone after the game, you can see in the back ground that the Rockies lost 5 to 3.  The Marlins were up 1 to 0 for most of the game.  In the bottom of the 8th inning the Rockies scored 3 runs to take the lead.  We were ecstatic, but unfortunately in the top of the 9th the Marlins scored 4 runs to beat them 5 to 3.

One of the highlights of the game for me was getting to see Ichiro Suzuki play in the game.  It was only 2 days later, in a game against the Rockies, that he racked up his 3000th career hit in the MLB.  He has over 4300 hits in his career.

One thing I learned while photographing this game was that while 1/500th and 1/640th is usually quick enough to stop action, it wasn’t fast enough to freeze all motion like the ball or their bats without motion blur.  Some of this implied movement in the photographs is kool, but I also wish I would have increased the shutter speed to 1/1600th or so to freeze player movement and the ball in flight.

Here are the rest of the images I captured that evening.
